We can offer many different types of funding options to cover legal costs. In addition many clients prefer to make their payments by debit or credit card and this option is available on an agreed instalment basis if required.
Fixed fees
For conveyancing, wills, and commercial transactions, we will discuss the work you need us to do and agree a fee to complete the work. We can sometimes offer a fixed fee for other types of work too, for example divorce, litigation and advocacy where the work is capable of being broken down into separate stages. In these cases, we can agree a fixed fee for each stage of the work otherwise our published hourly rates will apply.
Legal Expenses Insurance
Many people have legal expenses insurance within their home contents other insurance policy. This may provide a full or limited cover. We can explore the possibility of cover with you.
“No win/ No fee” arrangements
This is an arrangement we can offer in some personal injury cases. We take full details from you about your accident and carry out a risk assessment of your case. Once your case is accepted you only have to pay our costs if you win your case. Usually, if you win, your opponent will have to pay most if not all of those costs. To protect you if you lose, we apply for insurance to cover the costs you would have to pay to your opponent if you lose. Once you have paid the insurance premium and are insured, the insurance company pays any costs you are ordered to pay to your opponent.
Trades Unions
You may be a member of a Trades Union that offers to fund its member’s legal costs in cases arising out of a member’s employment. If you think this is likely to be the case, we can find out for you and secure agreement for your fees.
Public Funding (Legal Aid)
You may be eligible for Legal Aid if you receive Income Support, have a low disposable income and little capital. We have several franchises from the Legal Services Commission to carry out certain types of work under a publicly funded contract. The types of work for which Legal Aid is available from Hutton’s are:
